Wisconsin Republicans demand Judge Dugan resign or face impeachment after felony conviction

MILWAUKEE, WI (AP)— Wisconsin Republicans are threatening to impeach Judge Hannah Dugan if she doesn't resign after her obstruction conviction.

Federal prosecutors accused Dugan of distracting federal agents who wanted to arrest an immigrant in the Milwaukee County Courthouse and leading the man out of her courtroom through a private door. A jury convicted her of felony obstruction Thursday. She faces up to five years in prison when she's sentenced.

The Wisconsin Constitution bars convicted felons from holding public office.

Assembly Speaker Robin Vos and Majority Leader Tyler August said Friday that Dugan must resign immediately or they will impeachment her.
