Man sentenced for possessing meth in Ironwood

BESSEMER, MI— A Wisconsin man was sentenced in Gogebic County last week on meth-related charges.

David Trovillion, 45, of Montreal was a passenger in a vehicle stopped in Ironwood for traffic violations last April. Police also had probable cause to believe the vehicle was transporting drugs into the county, following a month-long investigation by GIANT.

K-9 Debwe alerted on the vehicle after Trovillion was ordered out of the car. Officers saw an orange object clenched in his hand, and believed it was a cap from a syringe used to inject drugs. They also saw gem bags falling to the ground near him.

Police found additional syringes and a bag of meth on Trovillion. Additional drugs and paraphernalia were found in the vehicle. Trovillion also resisted officer’s attempts to place him under arrest.

He was sentenced to 5 years, 11 months to 30 years for possession of meth within 1,000 feet of school property and 1-2 years for resisting and obstructing an officer.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
