Meth, heroin trafficker sentenced in Chippewa County

Shannan Davis

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI— A Chippewa County woman who pleaded guilty to a drug charge in 2024, then left the state, has been sentenced to 12 years, 6 months to 20 years in prison.

Shannan Davis, 46, fled Michigan after pleading guilty to delivery of meth. Chippewa County Prosecutor Rob Stratton says investigation revealed Davis had been trafficking meth and heroin in the U.P.

Deputies tried to initiate a traffic stop on Davis on I-75, but she kept driving. During the pursuit, she and her passengers discarded around seven bags of meth from the vehicle. Davis eventually stopped.

A search of the area uncovered additional suspected meth, and a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a safe containing about 55 grams of meth, additional narcotics, cell phones, and a digital scale. She later admitted to traveling to Detroit and Ohio in connection with drug-related activity.

Davis was ultimately located in November of 2025 at a Walmart in Alabama and extradited back to Michigan.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
