Ishpeming duo charged with child abuse and animal neglect/abuse

Andrew Lusardi

MARQUETTE, MI— The names of the two suspects arrested after troopers found 16 dogs, a cat, and two young children in squalid conditions in an Ishpeming home have been released.

Tuesday evening, troopers from the Negaunee Post tracked a domestic violence suspect to his Ishpeming residence. They say the children and animals were living in unsanitary and unsafe conditions.

On Wednesday, Andrew Lusardi, 39, was arraigned on two counts of domestic violence, one count of animal abandonment/cruelty involving
10 or more but fewer than 25 animals, and one count of fourth-degree child abuse. Brianna Poehls, 34, was arraigned on one count of animal abandonment/cruelty involving 10 or more but fewer than 25 animals and one count of fourth-degree child abuse.

Both will next appear in court on July 9.
