Marquette convenience store held up

MARQUETTE, MI--   Marquette Police are looking for a suspect in the armed robbery of a party store.

Officers say a masked man wearing a hood entered Valle’s Corner Convenience Party Store Wednesday night around 10:45 p.m. and brandished a knife.  He demanded money from the cashier and fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.

Police say shortly before they were called to Valle’s they had been dispatched to the Blue Link Party Store on Third Street on a report of a masked man acting suspiciously in the area.

Interviews have been conducted with a witness in that incident.  Officers are certain the suspect in both locations is one and the same.

With the assistance of NMU Public Safety and a Police K9 surrounding neighborhoods were searched.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call Marquette Police at 228-0400.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
