Charges brought against man who allegedly crashed into Ishpeming school

ISHPEMING, MI--   An Ishpeming man who drove his Jeep into Central School earlier this month has been arraigned.

Joseph Pennala, 29, is charged with resisting and obstructing a police officer, failure to stop at the scene of a personal injury accident and operating while intoxicated.  He faces up to three years, 93 days in jail and a $3,500 fine.

Pennala is accused of crashing into the school with his vehicle October 12 and leaving the Jeep sticking partway into a classroom.  Officers later found him at his residence on New York Street.

A preliminary hearing is set for November 5.  Pennala remains free on 10 percent of a $15,000 bond.
