Houghton Police search for chase suspect

HOUGHTON, MI--   Police in Houghton are asking the public to help them locate a man who led them on a high-speed chase Friday night.

Travis Kuopus, 26, allegedly was involved in a domestic situation at

Wal-Mart around 6:30 p.m., then fled the scene in a black pickup truck after striking another vehicle in the parking lot.

Police say Kuopus led them on speeds of up to 90 miles per hour through Houghton and Hancock and up M-26.  They stopped the chase in Dollar Bay because they say Kuopus was driving erratically.

Kuopus is described as a 5’6”, 160-pound white male with black hair and brown eyes.  He was driving a 1999 Chevrolet 1500 extended cab pickup with Michigan registration BBV4060.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call the Houghton Police Department at 487-5912 or dial 911.
