Name of suspect in construction zone hit-and-run released

BREITUNG TOWNSHIP, MI--   Officials have released the name of the woman who is accused of hitting a construction worker with her car in Dickinson County Thursday.   

Andrea Drawski, 34, of Quinnesec allegedly drove into a construction zone on US-2 in Breitung Township Thursday morning and struck a worker, then drove off.  A trooper from the Iron Mountain Post saw the incident and stopped her vehicle.

Drawski was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated, causing serious injury and failure to stop and identify at the scene of a personal injury crash. 

A preliminary exam is set for July 25 in Dickinson County District Court.

The victim, Kenneth Thompson, 54, of Saginaw, has been released from Dickinson County Memorial Hospital after treatment of his injuries.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
