ESCANABA, MI-- Delta County authorities report the looting of a business and an attempted robbery at a drug store during a blackout affecting much of the City of Escanaba and surrounding communities.
The outage happened after an explosion Monday morning at an Escanaba Power Plant substation. Escanaba Public Safety Captain Jamie Segorski someone broke into Rosy’s Diner and took several items. Someone also tried to rob People’s Drug Store.
Segorski says investigators have suspects in the crimes but didn't make any immediate arrests. He says police increased patrols during the blackout.
