UPSET nabs two on meth charges in Marquette

UPDATE:  The suspects are identified as Starlene Bartol, 38, and Thomas Field, 39.  A probable cause hearing is set for April 12 and a preliminary exam on April 18.

MARQUETTE, MI--   Two Marquette County residents have been arrested by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team on meth-related charges. 

On Monday detectives were alerted the suspects had just purchased components to make the drug.  UPSET contacted Marquette Police, who conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle.  A search uncovered components used to manufacture meth. 

The suspects remain lodged in the Marquette County Jail.  Their names have not been released, pending arraignment.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
