Saatio located in Costa Rica

HOUGHTON, MI-- A man who escaped from custody in Houghton last year has been found in Costa Rica.

John Wesley Saatio, 34, ran last June 19^th as he was being escorted back to the County Jail following a court hearing. He was later spotted in Green Bay and Suamico and hadn’t been seen since. He’s charged with home invasion, destruction of police property, and a probation violation. Saatio is also a registered sex offender.

WLUC-TV reports the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Costa Rican government and the FBI to have Saatio deported back to the U.S. to face charges.
