Big Bay man facing drug charges

MARQUETTE, MI--   A Big Bay man is in custody on charges related to the distribution of crystal meth and heroin. 

The Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team and police officers arrested the 29-year-old man Wednesday on Washington Street in Marquette following a several-week investigation.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s residence. They seized

approximately 43 grams of crystal meth, 12 grams of heroin, and $580 in cash.  The street value of the drugs seized is estimated to be more than $12,000.

The suspect was lodged at the Marquette County Jail.  His name is being withheld, pending arraignment.

UPSET was assisted by Marquette City Police, Marquette City Police K-9 “Scud,” the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department, Homeland Security Investigations and the US Postal Inspector’s Office.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
