Police still moving forward with Iron Mountain missing person case

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   Detectives say they continue to look for an Iron Mountain woman who went missing three years ago.

Nancy Renkas was last seen getting into a white SUV in the Iron Mountain Super One Foods parking lot on July 18 of 2016. A task force consisting of detectives from Michigan and Wisconsin police agencies and the FBI out of Marquette and Green Bay was formed to find Renkas. Officials believe the disappearance is suspicious.

Detectives have located the white SUV Renkas was seen getting into the day she disappeared. The driver initially spoke with law enforcement but is no longer cooperating with investigators.

Officials say they’re confident they’ll find out what happened to Renkas.

Anyone with information about the disappearance—no matter how insignificant it may seem—is asked to contact Detective Lieutenant Derek Dixon of the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office or their local law enforcement agency.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
