Police stop vehicle in Hancock, arrest driver and passenger

HANCOCK, MI--   Two people were arrested on drug-related charges in Hancock over the weekend. 

The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office says deputies initiated a traffic stop Saturday night. They say they found crystal meth and buprenorphine inside the vehicle. A Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office K-9 assisted in the search.

The driver was arrested on a felony warrant and a number of driving offenses. A passenger in the vehicle was also arrested on a felony warrant.

Their names are being withheld, pending arraignment.

Hancock and Houghton City Police assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
