(UNDATED) -- Nine former and current Michigan prison inmates have been charged with drug trafficking. A federal, state and local investigation resulted in indictments for trafficking meth, heroin, cocaine, and suboxone between November 2018 and June 2020. The alleged conspiracy involved current and former ‘Department of Corrections’ inmates procuring the drugs from Mexico and distributing them in 11-counties, including ‘Alger’ and ‘Luce.’
A search last month of the ‘Alger Correctional Facility’ uncovered meth, L-S-D, suboxone, a scale, and a cell phone hidden under a keyboard.
The charges carry varying maximum penalties, including up to life in prison for some of the defendants.
