Woman injured, man arrested for aggravated domestic violence in Escanaba

ESCANABA, MI— An Escanaba man has been arrested for aggravated domestic violence after someone saw a bloody handprint at a city residence Thursday.

Just after 6 p.m. Escanaba Public Safety conducted a welfare check at a house on the 400 block of South 7th Street. The person who requested it said they hadn’t heard from a woman who had been there and they observed blood on the wall when they went to the residence to check on her.

Officers entered the house and found the woman, who was injured. Evidence indicated there might be another victim.

The woman was taken to St. Francis Hospital for treatment.

A male suspect was detained by officers and later arrested and lodged at the Delta County Jail for aggravated domestic assault.

Police secured a search warrant and the Michigan State Police Crime Lab processed the scene for evidence.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
