A fugitive wanted since mid-October is back in custody following a high-speed chase. According to the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department, deputies located 19-year old Chenoa Rae Phillips at about 8am Wednesday driving through KI Sawyer Air Force Base. Deputies attempted a traffic stop on her vehicle, but she fled the scene, leading officers on a several mile pursuit through Forsyth, West Branch and Sands Townships at speeds of up to 99 miles per hour. Deputies deployed ‘stop sticks’ at
M-553 and Taylor Road in Sands Township where they took Philips into custody.
Philips had been released October 18th on a personal recognizance bond under the condition that she be released directly to treatment with a GPS. On October 26th, she removed the tether and fled the treatment facility.
Philips was originally arrested in April on charges related to absconding from felony bond, removing her GPS tether, and resisting and obstructing an officer.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in yesterday’s arrest by the Forsyth Township Police Department.
