UPSET nabs drug suspect in L'Anse

L'ANSE, MI— A L’Anse man has been arrested by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team on a drug charge.

On Tuesday detectives executed a search warrant at a residence on Spruce Street. It was the result of a four-month investigation involving the illegal distribution of meth and heroin.

Officers seized about an ounce of meth, two firearms, a digital scale and packaging used to sell drugs.

A 28-year-old man was arrested for possession with intent to deliver meth. He remains lodged at the Baraga County Jail.

UPSET was assisted by the L’Anse Village Police Department, the Baraga County Sheriff’s Office, the Michigan State Police Calumet Post, the MSP Emergency Support Team, and the Calumet Post K-9 unit.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
