Law enforcement says scams targeting UP residents

MARQUETTE, MI— Michigan State Police are warning residents about scams that are making the rounds.

In the most recent one, the caller claims they’re from Amazon and there’s an issue with an order or an account. The caller will start asking for personal and financial information.

The second scam is an older one but continues to pop up. In it, the scammer claims to be a relative who was in an accident and needs money.

Police say never give out personal or financial information to anyone you don’t know.

And troopers from the Iron Mountain Post say a counterfeit $100 bill was recently passed in Iron County. They’re asking businesses, financial institutions and citizens to be aware fake bills may be circulating.
