As they waited for a key to the office, the prisoner punched the counselor in the face and tried to assault her further. Officers at the desk were able to gain control of the man.

The counselor was taken to UPHS-Marquette for evaluation and released. She was scheduled to be back at work Monday.

The Michigan State Police has been notified and has begun an investigation into the incident.
