Gallons of meth waste removed from Houghton house

HOUGHTON, MI— Two Houghton residents have been arrested for manufacturing meth.

Detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team developed information indicating occupants of a house on Spruce Lane were making meth and there was a possible meth lab in the house.

On Thursday, UPSET executed a search warrant at the home. Detectives recovered numerous components used in the manufacturing process, including a “one pot” meth lab. Eight five-gallon buckets of hazardous waste were removed from the house.

A 40-year-old man and 42-year-old woman were arrested for delivery/manufacture of meth.

UPSET was assisted by the Houghton Police Department, MTU Public Safety, and the Houghton City Fire Department.
