Hessell murder victim identified

MACKINAC COUNTY, MI— Police have released the name of the man killed in Mackinac County last month.

Troopers from the St. Ignace Post were dispatched May 25th to a residence just north of Hessell and found Ralph Patrick, 73, dead of an apparent gunshot wound.

Joelle Chamberlain, 34, Patrick’s relative, was found a short time later and taken into custody. She’s charged with homicide-open murder.

Chamberlain remains lodged without bond in the Mackinac County Jail.

A preliminary exam is set for Thursday in district court.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
