SAULT STE. MARIE, MI— A Sault Ste. Marie man is jailed for trying to kill his ex-girlfriend.
Michigan State Police were dispatched Monday on a report a 48-year-old man was holding a woman against her will. He allegedly went to a place he knew she would be, waited for her, then restrained her in a residence using a firearm.
During the altercation, the suspect—Jason Mcrorie—committed additional felonious acts against her.
The victim was able to contact nearby family members. Troopers stopped a vehicle Mcrorie was in and took him into custody.
He’s charged with assault with intent to murder, 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping, 1st-degree home invasion, assault to do great bodily harm by strangulation, and several weapons offenses.
Mcrorie remains lodged in the Chippewa County Jail on a $1 million cash bond.
Troopers were assisted by UPSET, the MSP Emergency Services Team, and the Sault Ste. Marie City Police.
