UPDATE: US Marshal shot in eastern UP; suspected shooter still on property

UPDATE (8:06 p.m.): It’s a tense situation in the eastern U.P., where Federal law enforcement officials and the Michigan State Police have set up a perimeter at a residence in Goetzville after a U.S. Marshal was shot Wednesday morning.

The U.S. Marshals Service says a Special Operations Group attempted to recover two critically endangered youths and arrest Giovanni McNab when the suspect exited the house, shot at officers, and fled back inside the residence.

They say McNab is wanted in Missouri for charges of abduction and parental kidnapping.

Brady McCarron is a public affairs officer with the U.S. Marshals Service.

“At this time, the situation is still ongoing. We have him still at the residence. The arrest has not been made at this time.”

The officer who was shot was airlifted to a nearby hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

The Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team has deployed swat teams, K-9, and aviation units to the scene.
