Woman facing homicide, arson charges in death of Ishpeming man

ISHPEMING, MI— An Ishpeming woman charged with lighting her husband on fire in 2021 is now charged with setting a fire that killed Glenn Andrews earlier this year.

Julie Boxley, 52, was staying with the owner of Glenn’s Smokehouse and his wife when the fire broke out on March 5th. Andrews died of his injuries on March 19th.

Boxley is charged in Marquette County District Court with first-degree homicide and first-degree arson. She’s also charged in Alger County Circuit Court with assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder and assault with intent to murder.

Boxley is accused of lighting her then-husband James Boxley on fire at their home on Christmas in 2021.

She was found competent to stand trial in August.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
