Drug bust in Calumet

CALUMET, MI— Two people were arrested in Houghton County Thursday on drug charges.

The Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at a residence in Calumet. Detectives seized about 6.5 ounces of crystal meth, $6,851 in cash, and evidence related to the distribution of meth.

Police also found blasting caps in the house. The MSP Bomb Squad was brought in to safely remove the devices.

A 37-year-old Calumet man and a 34-year-old Lake Linden woman were arrested on charges related to possession with intent to deliver meth. Both remain lodged in the Houghton County Jail.

UPSET was assisted by the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department, the MSP Calumet Post, the MSP K-9 unit and the MSP Bomb Squad.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
