Woman charged with resisting Negaunee trooper in stolen vehicle case

MARQUETTE, MI— The suspect in a stolen vehicle case was charged with resisting an officer when a trooper tried to arrest her in Marquette.

Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post had been investigating a stolen vehicle out of Alger County and had developed a suspect.

Saturday around 2:30 p.m., a trooper found the vehicle and 36-year-old Megan Quattrin of Marquette in the TJ Maxx parking lot. She got out of the vehicle and started walking towards the store, disregarding the trooper’s repeated commands to stop.

Quattrin then went back to the vehicle and tried to get into the driver’s seat. When the officer prevented Quattrin from accessing the vehicle and started placing her under arrest, she physically resisted.

Quattrin was lodged in the Marquette County Jail on charges of resisting and obstructing a police officer. A probable cause conference is set for January 23.

The related case involving the motor vehicle theft is being referred to the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
