Meth lab seized in Iron County

MASTODON TOWNSHIP, MI— Two Iron County residents have been arrested for manufacturing meth.

The Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team has been investigating a man and woman for some time. Detectives executed a search warrant Wednesday on the man’s residence in Mastodon Township.

UPSET seized various chemicals used to manufacture meth, along with finished product. Some of the chemicals seized included lye, solvents, lithium metal, sulfuric acid, and salt. Detectives also seized numerous containers used to manufacture meth.

Both suspects were lodged in the Iron County Jail. Their names are being withheld at this time.

UPSET was assisted by the Iron County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Michigan DNR, West Iron County Fire Department, and Iron River Aspirus EMS.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
