SAULT STE. MARIE, MI— The Michigan State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force has arrested a Sault Ste. Marie man on child pornography charges.
Michael Dauer, 24, was taken into custody following an investigation by the MSP Computer Crimes Unit. Officers learned Dauer was viewing files of child sexually abusive material on the internet. Digital evidence was seized from his residence.
Dauer is charged with possession of child sexually abusive material, four counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, and two counts of using a computer to commit a crime.
Dauer was arraigned on Friday in 91st District Court in Sault Ste. Marie. His bond was set at $50,000 with conditions including a tether, no contact with anyone under the age of 18, and no access to a computer network or social media.
A probable cause conference is set for March 20.
