Scammers calling Marquette County residents, saying they have arrest warrants

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI— The Chocolay Township Police Department says scammers are posing as officers in an effort to get money from their victims.

The calls look like they originate from local police departments. The caller claims they have a warrant for your arrest, then tell you to send prepaid credit cards to pay for your bond.

Chocolay officials say local police will never contact people that way or ask for that kind of payment.

Anyone who receives such a call should immediately hang up and call their local police to let them know.
