Negaunee crash results in DUI arrest

NEGAUNEE, MI— Two people were injured in a traffic crash in Negaunee Monday.

The Negaunee Police Department was dispatched around 7:07 p.m. to County Road 480 near Old 480.

Officers say a Ford F-150 driven by a 56-year-old Negaunee man was westbound when it was struck by a Chevy Silverado that crossed the centerline. It was driven by a 33-year-old Gladstone man.

Both drivers were taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment. They were later released with minor injuries.

The driver of the Silverado was arrested for driving under the influence.

Assisting at the scene were the Negaunee City Fire Department, Michigan State Police, Ishpeming City Police, UPHS EMS, and Anttila’s Towing.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
