Menominee County police chase exceeding 100 mph ends in suspect's arrest

MENOMINEE, MI— A high-speed car chase from Stephenson to Menominee resulted in the arrest of the driver Monday.

Around 1:37 a.m., a deputy with the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office tried to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle that was speeding just north of the City of Stephenson. The driver took off, leading police on a high-speed pursuit southbound on US-41. During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle reached speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.

When the chase entered Menominee, the suspect vehicle was disabled by stop sticks placed by the Menominee Police Department. The driver fled on foot but was found a short time later hiding a few blocks away.

The driver was arrested on multiple charges including fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing a police officer, and possession of a controlled substance.

The incident remains under investigation.
