CORNELL TOWNSHIP, MI— A Delta County woman has been arrested for biting a trooper who was investigating an animal neglect case in the Cornell area.
On Tuesday, Michigan State Police from the Gladstone Post received a report alleging animal neglect involving several individuals. The next day, troopers executed a search warrant at a location on County Road 426 in Cornell Township. They found several deceased animals, including cats, rabbits, pigs, and goats. Additionally, malnourished live animals in unhealthy conditions, including 14 cats, 12 rabbits, and a sheep, were seized and removed from the property.
While officers were trying to complete their investigation, a woman at the scene refused to follow the orders they gave her. She then bit one of the troopers on the wrist. When she was told she was under arrest, the woman continued to fight and attempted to bite another trooper.
On Thursday, Brianna Makosky, 22, was arraigned on three felony counts of resisting/obstructing an officer.
The animal neglect investigation is ongoing and will be submitted to the Delta County Prosecutor for review once the investigation is complete.
