I-75 driver going southbound in northbound lanes arrested for drugged driving

MACKINAC COUNTY, MI— A South Range woman was arrested last week for going the wrong way on I-75 in Mackinac County.

February 11 around 7:25 p.m., Chippewa County Central Dispatch issued a BOL (be on the lookout) for a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes.

A St. Ignace Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Officer was in the area. As he approached the Charles-Moran Road overpass, he saw headlights coming the wrong way in the northbound lanes. Since there was no other traffic, the MCO was able to position himself on the highway, lights and siren activated.

As the vehicle approached, it slowed but didn’t stop until the officer yelled at the driver. Officials say she shrugged and appeared confused.

Therese Parolini, 66, was arrested and lodged in the Mackinac County Jail. She’s charged with operating under the influence of drugs and possession of analogues, as she was in possession of pills not prescribed to her.

Parolini was given a personal recognizance bond and must next appear in court on February 23.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
