Mackinac Bridge stop leads to arrest of Texas man following discovery of weapons

ST. IGNACE, MI— was arrested for possessing illegal weapons.

Wednesday evening, a Motor Carrier Officer from the St. Ignace Post stopped a semi-truck hauling a trailer that was speeding and driving in a hazardous manner. The driver had a warrant out for his arrest and was taken into custody.

Investigation revealed the driver, Eric Koroscik, 54, of Kingwood, Texas, was in possession of multiple weapons but did not have a concealed pistol license.

Troopers seized:

• 15 double-edged knives, including 3 equipped with brass knuckle handles
• 2 throwing stars, each with 4 double-edged sides
• 2 additional sets of brass knuckles, including one spiked set
• 5 loaded pistols
• 1 loaded rifle
• 1 shotgun
• 1 large double-edged sword with a 32-inch blade

Koroscik was found to be in possession of two open containers of alcohol and also had allegedly falsified his electronic logging device records.

He was arraigned in 92nd District Court in Mackinac County on one count of carrying a concealed weapon and issued a personal recognizance bond. Additional charges are being sought for other violations.

Koroscik’s next court appearance is scheduled for April 10.
