Police apprehend suspect in alleged shooting in Marquette; pursuit ends with suspect vehicle crash and on fire in Negaunee

Marquette, MI – Marquette City Police continue to investigate an incident that left one man with apparent gunshot wounds and two others with minor injuries. Officials say officers responded to a 9-1-1 call of a disturbance at an apartment in the 600 block of West Baraga Avenue at about 9:14pm yesterday (Tuesday). They arrived to find one male with apparent gunshot wounds and another male with minor injuries in the apartment. Initial information indicated the suspect had fled the scene. Michigan State Police located the suspect and pursued the suspect vehicle to Negaunee where the vehicle crashed at the Krist gas station. The crash caused a large fire at the gas station. Troopers were able to safely apprehend the suspect who was evaluated for minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.

The two victims and the suspect were transported to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of injuries. All subjects involved were known to each other, and it was an isolated incident. The suspect remains in custody and there are no further threats to the community. The investigation is ongoing and further information will be released at a later date.
