Marquette parents of 4-month-old girl charged with 1st-degree child abuse

Christopher Dunn and Katrina Ayotte

MARQUETTE, MI— Two Marquette residents are jailed on child abuse charges.

On July 15 around noon, the Marquette Police Department responded to UPHS-Marquette for a wellbeing check on a 4-month-old girl. She was brought in by her parents for decreased responsiveness. Officers were advised the baby was barely responsive when she arrived. The baby was flown to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Green Bay for further treatment that afternoon.

Marquette Police and Child Protective Services conducted a joint investigation and forwarded a report to the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office. On July 31, felony warrants were issued for Katrina Ayotte, 22, and Christopher Dunn, 28. Each is charged with 1st-degree child abuse.

On Monday, Ayotte and Dunn were arrested and lodged in the Marquette County Jail on $50,000 bonds.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
