DEQ giving U.P. towns infrastructure money

MARQUETTE, MI--   Four Upper Peninsula communities have received money from the Department of Environmental Quality to update sewer and wastewater infrastructure.

S2 grants fund preconstruction work on sewer systems.  Kinross Township is getting $135,754; the City of Marquette $22,500; and $46,800 is going to St. Ignace.

And a $465,000 loan is going to the Gogebic-Iron Wastewater Authority through the Clean Water State Revolving Fund and the Strategic Water Quality Initiatives Fund.  They provide low-interest loans for necessary wastewater facility improvements.
