DEARBORN, MI— More than 1.7 Michiganders are expected to travel 50 miles or more over the Thanksgiving holiday period.

AAA Michigan says that’s over 43,000 more residents than last year. It’s also the third-highest number of travelers on record, just behind 2005 and 2019, respectively.

AAA forecasts 1.5 million Michigan residents will drive to their destinations, 178,000 will fly, and 50,000 will take other forms of transportation.

Thanksgiving road trips should be less costly at the gas pump this year than last. AAA believes gas prices should remain low through the holiday season unless oil prices suddenly spike.
