School aid act to be updated

(LANSING)- Governor Rick Snyder has turned the job of rewriting Michigan's 1979 school aid act over to the Oxford Foundation-Michigan.

The group held its first hearing earlier today in downtown Lansing.

Coordinator Richard McLellan says the republican governor wants an updated law that reflects the “any time, any place, any way, any pace” public school learning model he supports.

The law is rewritten each year with the school aid budget.

McLellan says the effort won't affect school funding.

A draft is expected to be completed in October and the final draft given to Snyder in late fall as he prepares his 2013 budget.
