Iron Mountain residents to vote on $9.5 million school bond proposal

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   The Iron Mountain School District is putting a bond proposal before voters in February.

The district’s Board of Education approved the proposal Monday, clearing the way to the February 26 ballot.

Officials want to borrow up to $9.5 million over 18 years to remodel and refurnish school buildings; prepare, develop, and improve sites at those buildings; and equip the buildings for new technology.

Last May voters defeated by 46 votes a proposal for $11 million over 20 years.  The new proposal would not tear down Central School, build an addition, or move the middle school students to the high school.
