GWINN, MI-- Officials with the Gwinn Area Community Schools want parents and residents to provide input on the district so they can develop a strategic plan.
Superintendent Sandy Petrovich says a survey on the district’s website will let people give their opinion on the schools’ strengths and weaknesses, the barriers to implementing a strategic plan, and where they’d like to see the district in three to five years. Information from responses will be combined with other hard data to develop a strategic plan.
A sinking fund ballot proposal for GACS failed twice last year. Petrovich says while there are no questions about the sinking fund on the survey, the two are connected.
“So the input from the survey will certainly provide that plan from which we can frame all of our decisions in the future including that of the sinking fund or what we might even do with the sinking fund proceeds,” she says.
Petrovich says the school board will determine the amount and length of the millage for another sinking fund proposal at its October 21 meeting. The proposal could be put on the May ballot.
