PWPL working on plans to reopen

MARQUETTE, MI--   Peter White Public Library has entered the first stage of its reopening plan.

The plan outlines six stages of reengagement with the community.

The first two stages cover training on social distancing, establishing procedures for quarantining and sanitizing materials, and rearranging of furniture and workspaces.

Curbside pickup of materials begins in Stage 3. Once the process is running, staff will begin accepting the return of materials, which will all be quarantined for 72 hours before they’re available for reuse.

The library will reopen the doors to the public in Stage 4 with reduced hours. A limited number of patrons will be allowed in the building, and computer use will be offered on a limited basis.

During Stage 5, in-person library programs will restart with limited participants and the library will operate with reduced hours.

In Stage 6 the library will be open for regular business.

Library Director Andrea Ingmire says Stage 2 will likely begin June 1, then Stage 3 on June 8.

The reopen plan will only apply if permitted by law or executive order.
