Michigan Dept. of Education selects Marquette teacher as Regional Teacher of the Year

MARQUETTE, MI— A Marquette teacher has been named a Regional Teacher of the Year by the Michigan Department of Education.

Sarah Juday is a teacher at Superior Hills Elementary School. She was one of 10 selected across the state.

The Teacher of the Year program aims to honor and elevate the voices of educators. Regional Teachers of the Year were selected through a competitive application process that began with Michigan Teacher of the Year nominations from students, staff, and community members.

Each regional winner makes up the Michigan Teacher Leadership Advisory Council.

The next step in the process is for each Regional Teacher of the Year to interview with a panel of statewide education partners. One person will be selected as the 2026-27 Michigan Teacher of the Year.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
