LANSING, MI-- A new poll says Michigan voters appear to be closely divided over November 6 ballot issues to write collective bargaining rights into the state Constitution, repeal a law governing emergency takeovers of financially troubled governments and require a public vote to build a new bridge to Canada.
The EPIC-MRA poll in Sunday's Detroit Free Press is co-sponsored by WXYZ-TV, WJRT-TV, WOOD-TV and WILX-TV. Pollsters telephoned 600 likely voters September 8 through Tuesday. Results have a 4 percentage point margin of sampling error up or down.
The poll found 48 percent backed the collective bargaining proposal, apparently ahead of the 43 percent opposed.
Repealing the emergency manager law apparently led, 46 percent to 42 percent.
The bridge proposal was about even, with 47 percent in favor and 44 percent opposed.
