LANSING, MI-- Governor Rick Snyder has lifted a ban on burning in 49 counties in the Upper Peninsula and Northern Lower Michigan.
The Department of Natural Resources has determined—based on rainfall amounts and other criteria—that extreme fire hazard conditions have subsided.
The proclamation issued Wednesday also lifts a ban on fireworks in Luce and Schoolcraft counties.
Snyder implemented both bans May 25 in response to drought conditions and wildfires that destroyed more than 22,000 acres of land in the U.P.
