Meeting to help Duck Lake Fire property owners set

NEWBERRY, MI--   The Department of Natural Resources is holding a meeting for those affected by the Duck Lake Fire in Luce County.  The meeting will focus on assistance available to landowners for remediation of their properties.

DNR officials say those who are seeking financial help or advice are encouraged to attend the meeting, which takes place Tuesday, June 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the McMillan Township Hall in Newberry.

Officials say landowners may qualify for federal assistance through the Forest Stewardship Program or the Emergency Forest Restoration Program.  Meeting topics will also cover ways to get help with the cost of removing trees, replanting properties with trees, and fixing damaged roads and driveways.
