LUCE COUNTY, MI-- The state Department of Natural Resources is marking the completion of the Crisp Point Project, an acquisition that includes 3,810 acres of forest land and more than two miles of Lake Superior shoreline.
A ceremony will take place Thursday at the Crisp Point Lighthouse in Northeastern Luce County. The 11 a.m. event is open to the public.
The acquisition was funded by a $4.5 million grant through the U.S. Forest Service's Forest Legacy Program and $1.5 million from a private donor.
The property includes bluffs, streams, an inland lake and sand dunes. It contains about 2.5 miles of a key northern U.P. snowmobile trail.
The DNR says the land is expected to be a place for recreation including hunting, fishing, trapping, hiking, wildlife viewing and kayaking.
