Seney Refuge gets fired up

examiner.com

SENEY, MI--   The Seney National Wildlife Refuge is planning to conduct its first prescribed burn of the season Friday.

Depending upon weather conditions, the 160-acre burn will be located directly south of Refuge Road.  Portions of the Marshland Wildlife Drive will be temporarily closed to the public.

The purpose of the burn is to enhance habitat for various species of wildlife and reduce the amount of fuel in an effort to decrease the severity of wildfires.

Visitors should check with the visitor center regarding road closures and route changes.
