Let-run order issued in Iron River

IRON RIVER, MI--   Residents of the City of Iron River are being asked to let their water run until further notice.

City Manager Perry Franzoi says internal water temperatures have decreased steadily in the last 72 hours, down from 40 degrees to 34 degrees in some areas.  He says the city’s water tank temperature is 34 degrees, and Water Department staff say there isn’t a sufficient amount of water flowing through the system to prevent freezing.

All customers should run their water in a location that’s the farthest point in the house from the connection to the city water system.

Monthly bills will be adjusted based on monthly averages.
